Nick a former Royal Marine providing security for the Fort while a planning decision was being made for a caravan park to be situated within the Fort. Tuther Nick a lifelong visitor to the Fort and also an ambassador to try and save the Fort back in 2019 when it was sadly closed. The duo first met in March 2024 and have managed to achieve quite a lot in the 9 months together.

In the beginning there was a loosely made plan as to what needed to happen in order for the main gates to re-open (and stay open) Clear the site and sort the health and safety aspects, easy enough? The pair thought this wouldn’t be an issue and that a site which has been closed for 5 years could be turned around in 6 weeks! Ambitious yes, realistic, no.
